How to Have Fun

How to Have Fun

An instruction article on how to have fun in midlife?
Yep! We high achiever, go get em’ ladies need it.
As recent podcasts by Glennon Doyle and Martha Beck have pointed out, we women are pretty unskilled at having fun for fun’s sake.
There’s a reason why I’m releasing this in women’s health month. I believe our ability to age well depends on our ability to get better at having fun.
Expert after expert points to less stress as a priority for women and our health as we age. The more stressed we are, the more illnesses we will have. The more stressed we are, the more disconnected our relationships are.
The more stressed we are, the less our kids want to be around us.
As if that’s not enough, the more stressed we are, the greater our chance of developing Alzheimer’s, heart disease, auto immune disorders, and getting that dreaded cancer diagnos.

Time and Money with Ceri Payne

Time and Money with Ceri Payne

Today is the first in a series of podcasts about money.
You still there?
Phew.
Because how we think about money drives how we feel about money.
What Do You Say When You Talk About Time or Money?
How do you feel when you think about time or money?
The series starts with an interview speaking of our relationship with money and our relationship with time.
I believed for many years that the way I thought about time and money were facts or circumstances of my life.
I would say things like “I don’t have enough time” or “I have to work hard to make money” as if they were facts instead of thoughts that I was choosing to think.
The issue is, when we don’t separate out the facts from what we’re thinking about the facts of our life, we feel like victims or out of control in our own lives.
Even more interestingly, we get to work proving those thoughts true.
If I think I have too much to do, I feel overwhelmed. When I feel overwhelmed, I rarely sit and calmly do what needs to get done. Rather, I do the little things that don’t really need to be done, spend a lot of time complaining and stressing, and ultimately, don’t get done what needs to get done and prove my thought true. I do have too much to do.
Sigh.
Not a fun way to live but a way I lived for many, many years. Ceri Payne is on the show today and I’m so excited for you to listen in to our conversation. She is a Life Coach School Certified Coach who works with women on their relationships with time and money. We dive into how the stories we tell ourselves about money and the way we speak of time influence our everyday life. Whether we are in the middle of an epidemic or a regular Wednesday in life, the tools we discuss will help you.

The more of us open hearted individuals making money, the more influence we can have on world issues that concern us.
At a time when there’s a lot going on in this world, I want more of that.
More ability to influence and support.
